Twitter To Enhance Its Location Tagging Services With Foursquare

Previously Twitter was using location based coordinates from device sensors to assign a spot. Now it can allow the users to get a list of nearby places to ID a very specific location through their partnership with Foursquare. The official company’s tweet confirmed a year’s back prognostication about the deal.

Twitter can extend its monetization with location based tweets. It can also provide them more advertising options. The on board user experience will be improved by providing location relevant tweets. The work is still in the pipes for the integration of the feature. When done, it will give users an option to add their exact location by tapping the location pin button. Also, users can tap on a certain place’s name in the twitter app to see what other people post about the same location.

Though the partnership may be not very significant, but it will definitely make a difference for the both companies, who are threatened by database of other businesses. Foursquare may not have the most popular apps but the deal is an indication that its database is powerful and worthy to be sold off to a giant like Twitter.
